Our BEST OF THE BAY (BOB) ride offers the finest cycling roads through the East Bay hills strung together into one epic ride. These include the roads ridden in Stage 2 of the initial Tour of California (2006); a whole series of the most popular "destination" cycling roads around:
- Bear Creek Rd.
- Happy Valley
- Wildcat Canyon
- South Park
- Grizzley Peak
- Redwood Road
- Niles Canyon
- Sierra Road
We have options (click here to down a pdf map) 83 miles, 100 miles, 108 miles, and 125 miles,
that allow you to make this ride as challenging as you wish, from moderate to extremely challenging. We have even had people do Sierra Road TWICE! In any case, no matter which route you choose to do, your ride will be memorable. Not only are these great cycling roads; every rest stop is in a park like location with signature menus designed for cyclists.
There is plenty of support from our club's friendly, knowledgeable volunteers. Finally, everyone ends up at a restaurant for a post ride meal; something for every taste; a great way to end an epic day in the saddle.
We are able to offer this great route by utilizing BART: you can either park at Fremont BART and ride the train to the Orinda start or you can take the train back to Orinda after finishing and eating close to Fremont BART. Check out our detailed BART information section.
Our BEST OF THE BAY ride follows the same roads ridden in Stage 2 of the 2006 TOUR OF CALIFORNIA – a true world-class “Super-Century” ride. You would have to travel to the Sierras or beyond to find an equally great route, yet here is one you can BART to!
